Amy Huebel, M.A., LPC, NCC
Amy received her Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from the CACREP accredited program at Texas State University. Amy is currently a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Nationally Certified Counselor. Amy is also working on her hours to become a Registered Play Therapist. She is passionate about working with children, adolescents, families, and parents.
When working with children, Amy believes that children have the ability and desire to work towards growth and healing. Her approach to counseling children through play therapy includes following the child’s lead and giving them the power to make decisions with her support and caring. Amy believes that creating and warm and caring environment is essential for the formation of a positive relationship between the therapist and child. Through this relationship, children are empowered to take initiative and make choices in therapy which will translate to their daily lives. Throughout therapy, Amy will meet with the child’s parents every fourth session to update the parents on the child’s progress.
Amy believes that the goals of therapy will evolve naturally and she will assess the client’s progress regularly through observation and discussion. Amy is passionate about empowering clients and helping them find their strengths and resiliencies within the supportive counseling relationship. Amy works with clients with a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, parenting, and life transitions. Amy has experience working with children and adolescents, adults, families, and parent groups.
